Police seek suspect in Westerly bank robbery

Westerly — Police are seeking the suspect in a robbery Friday afternoon at the Savings Institute Bank & Trust branch on 18 Post Road.
The robbery occurred at 3:55 p.m. A white male entered the bank, handed a teller a note demanding money and then walked out with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a statement from Westerly Police Chief Edward W. St. Clair.
No weapon was displayed by the robber and no injuries were reported.
Westerly police patrol and detective divisions responded with a K9 team and found the suspect had already fled the scene. There is no suspect vehicle description.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 50s or 60s and standing 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket, a white baseball cap, black gloves, gray sneakers and had a black jacket wrapped around his shoulders.
