East Lyme — A section of Main Street from Methodist Street to Pennsylvania Avenue has reopened after it was closed for more than 20 hours when a van struck and snapped an utility pole Monday morning.
Police said the pole has been replaced but utility crews are still on the scene reconnecting power to local businesses. Eversource is reporting that six customers are without power.
The 10:30 a.m. crash caused three transformers to spill their oil. East Lyme Public Works employees built a dirt berm to prevent the spill from spreading.
