Woman charged with running Griswold drug factory

State police reported Monday that the wife of a man charged in March with narcotics violations has been arrested on charges including running a drug factory in Griswold.

Other charges lodged last week against Samantha Johnson, 26, of 378 Norman Road, Lot 12, Griswold, were two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

An acquaintance of Johnson, Vaneza Flores, 24, no address listed, also was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics.

According to police, members of Troop E's Drug Suppression Task Force were in the Norman Road area at about 5:42 p.m. June 8 to investigate suspicious activity when they encountered Johnson. Police said she had 10 packets of what appeared to be heroin in her possession and that Johnson told troopers she had more drugs back at her residence.

At the residence, police, assisted by a K-9 team, said they found 130 packets of heroin totaling 29 grams, 28 grams of marijuana, 30 grams of synthetic marijuana, a digital scale, glass smoking pipes, a crack cocaine pipe and $354 in cash.

Police said Flores, who was in the residence at the time, was found to have seven packets of suspected heroin.

Samantha Johnson is the wife of Ryan Johnson, 29, who is currently in jail after the March incident in which police said he was found with multiple packages of heroin. As he was about to be arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to sell, police said he put his car in reverse, injuring an unidentified officer who was caught in an open driver's side door and dragged about 60 feet.

The officer discharged his gun, but no one was hurt.

Johnson had three other charges added onto the narcotics charges as a result of the incident: assault on a public safety officer, interfering with a police officer and third-degree assault.
