    Mystic Outdoor Art Festival staff member struck by car

    Mystic — A female member of the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival staff was struck by a car at approximately 7 a.m. Saturday.

    The victim was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London for treatment and was listed in stable condition, according to Groton Town police. Her identity has not been released.

    "She was out in the road setting up for the event, and a vehicle traveling eastbound near Gravel Street struck her," said Groton Town Police Detective Lt. John Varone.

    Along with members of the Groton Town Police, the Mystic Fire Department and the Mystic River Ambulance Corps responded to the accident.

    Varone said the driver of the vehicle was not impaired, and the accident is still under investigation.

    West Main Street was closed for a short time but now is open.

    The Mystic Outdoor Art Festival takes place today and Sunday.
