Second arrest made in Sterling teen's death

Sterling — Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime made a second arrest Friday in connection with the death of Sterling resident Todd Allen.

Dustin Warren, 18, of 85 Gibson Lane, Sterling, was arrested on a warrant and charged with tampering of evidence, hindering prosecution and interfering with a police officer.

Allen was reported missing Dec. 26 after he left his residence at 42 Dixon Road in Sterling on his dirt bike, and his remains were found near 61 Laiho Road in Sterling after weeks of searching. He appeared to have sustained multiple stab wounds.

Kevin Weismore, of 61 Laiho Road in Sterling was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with murder and tampering of evidence in the case.

In Weismore's arrest warrant, police said Weismore claimed he and Allen were at Warren's home a few days before Christmas when he told Allen he could get him 3.5 ounces of marijuana to sell later for $500. Weismore and Allen met again on Dec. 26 to complete the transaction when Weismore claimed Allen drew a gun because he didn't have the money to pay Weismore. Weismore said he then stabbed Allen multiple times, disposed of his body and burned his clothes, the 3.5 ounces of marijuana and $3 that Allen had in his wallet.

Weismore said it was a "group decision" to dispose of Allen's dirt bike in a pond, according to the arrest warrant. It was not clear Friday if police believe Warren had a role in that incident.

Warren is being held on $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear  on Jan. 30 in Danielson Superior Court.
