Moving truck snaps sign, runs onto plaza in New London
New London — An Allied moving truck failed to negotiate a turn near Parade Plaza on Tuesday morning, snapping a sign, popping its back tires and coming to a rest against a lamppost.
Police were taking photos of the wreck, which quickly caused traffic to back up onto Bank and State streets.
Cars were using the taxi stand lane in front of Union Station to bypass the crash but police eventually closed the street to remove the truck. It was gone by 11:30 a.m.
Police charged the driver, 46-year-old Sammy Hernandez of 129 Pequot Ave., with failure to maintain lane.
No injuries were reported.
