Firetruck hose causes minor damage to parked cars in New London

New London — A hose fell off the side of a firetruck Tuesday evening and caused minor damage when it bounced off some cars parked on Connecticut Avenue, New London fire Battalion Chief Roger Tompkins said.

The fire department was responding to a stove fire on Grand Street that was out on arrival, Tompkins said. Police said the hose was dragging behind the truck as it traveled.

The damage from the incident, which happened about 7:48 p.m., included one mirror that broke off and a couple of scratches, Tompkins said.

Police said the vehicles, which were parked near the intersection of Connecticut and Lincoln avenues, weren't occupied and the damage wasn't disabling.
