Ledyard police still investigating crash that seriously injured motorcyclist
Ledyard — A crash that left a motorcyclist with a serious leg injury early Saturday remains under investigation, police said.
Police said a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Joanne Wilkinson, 55, of Groton and a Suzuki motorcycle driven by Seth Johnson, 29, of Chesapeake, Va., collided on Route 214 about 500 feet east of Goulart Road.
Police said their investigation so far suggests the motorcycle crossed the double yellow lines and struck the van head-on.
The 6 a.m. crash left Johnson with “heavy trauma” to his left leg, police said. A Life Star helicopter took him to Hartford Hospital after responders rendered aid on scene.
A hospital spokeswoman on Thursday said Johnson was no longer at Hartford Hospital.
Town police and the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit are investigating the factors that may have led to the crash.
