State police seek witnesses to July 25 crash in New London
State police are trying to locate witnesses who saw a crash on Interstate 95 northbound near exit 83 last Thursday around 4 p.m., which sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Trooper Zachary Cash said the victim — a 68-year-old man from Gales Ferry — is recovering and his condition is stable.
Cash said both the victim and a witness, who had been at Town Fair Tire, confirmed that a black pickup truck cut off the victim's vehicle, forcing him off the roadway. The driver of the pickup truck has not been identified.
According to the police incident summary, a 2013 or 2014 Dodge Ram with tinted windows cut off the victim, causing him to strike a Department of Transportation sign on the right, travel across I-95 to the left and strike a jersey barrier, and then travel back onto I-95 into the guardrail separating South Frontage Road, causing the vehicle to roll over.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital in New Haven with serious injuries, the report said.
