Stonington -- Police charged a Norwich woman with driving under the influence early Sunday morning after police say she crashed her car on Taugwonk Road while her 6-year-old daughter was a passenger.

Gillian Castor, 33, of 71 Division St., Apt. B, was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with a minor in a vehicle and failure to drive right after the 2:26 a.m. crash near 394 Taugwonk Road. Both Castor and her daughter were transported to Lawrence + Memorial for treatment of minor injuries.

Police said Castor called them to say she had hit a deer, and drove into some bushes but did not know where she was. Police were able to locate her a short time later.
