Man arrested in connection with Oct. 1 Boswell Avenue shooting in Norwich

Norwich ― Police said they arrested on Friday a man accused of shooting at an unoccupied vehicle multiple times on Boswell Avenue earlier this month.

Norwich Police Detectives and the Southeastern Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force on Friday conducted surveillance for 32-year-old David Holland, Jr., who had active arrest warrants, Norwich Police said in a news release on Saturday.

According to the news release, a person who appeared to be Holland was seen Friday getting into a vehicle while wearing a ski mask. Norwich police later pulled over the vehicle, and the person, who was in the back seat, fled the vehicle. The person, confirmed to be Holland, surrendered after police followed him on foot.

At approximately 6:02 p.m., on Oct. 1 police said they responded to 575 Boswell Ave. for reports of shots fired. Police said they believed the shooting at the vehicle was a domestic-related incident and “a targeted attack directed specifically toward the victim.” No one was injured as a result of the shots fired, police said.

Police said in a news release Saturday that Holland had an arrest warrant for unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal mischief and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Police also said Holland has arrest warrants for second-degree threatening and violation of probation.

Police said Saturday that he also is facing the charges of interfering with a police officer and possession of narcotics stemming from his on-scene arrest.

Police said Holland is being held at Corrigan Correctional Center pending his arraignment. He is due in court on Monday.
