Second New London man charged in ‘pistol whipping’ assault
New London ― Police on Monday arrested the second of two men suspected of taking part in the assault of a woman who was “pistol whipped“ by one of the men.
Maaseiyah Williams, 49, of 20 Chappel St. in New London is charged with second-degree assault in connection with the April 10 assault. Williams’ son, Maaseiyah Williams Jr., 27, was previously charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a handgun and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
Police said the two men participated in beating a woman in the area of Eastern Avenue and Adelaide Road. Police said a shot was fired as Williams Jr. struck the woman in the head with a handgun. Police said the elder Williams kicked and punched the victim while she was down.
Williams was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
