    Shots fired, Norwich police investigate

    Norwich ― Shots were fired on Norwich Avenue on Sunday in an incident police are calling a targeted attack.

    There were no reported victims in the 6:52 p.m. shooting in the area of 418 Norwich Ave.

    Police had cordoned off a section of Norwich Avenue in Taftville on Sunday evening in an area where a resident said he heard five gunshots.

    A large police presence and vehicles were seen near Shetucket Avenue, and yellow evidence markers were scattered along the road. Police said officers found several spent shell casings in the area of where the shots were heard.

    The shooting incident was reported less than four hours after a shooting in New London that left a 32-year-old man hospitalized with injuries. New London police arrested two men, including a Norwich man, in connection with the New London shooting. Police have not said whether they are investigating a link between the shootings in New London and Norwich.
