Police: Cause of untimely death in East Lyme released

East Lyme ― The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for a man found dead in the woods near exit 71 of Interstate 95 on Tuesday afternoon.

Police Chief Michael Finkelstein in a statement Wednesday said the medical examiner has ruled the man died by suicide.

Police and members of the Flanders Fire Department were first alerted to the scene by someone walking a dog in the woods Tuesday afternoon, police said. They found the body about one-tenth of a mile off the southbound exit on Four Mile River Road.

Finkelstein said no more information will be released.
