Groton ― A 27-year-old Waterford man died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 northbound, near exit 89, state police said.

John Longinidis of 72 Sunset St. in Waterford was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck at 7:33 a.m., state police said. Police said his truck had traveled 50 feet into the center median of the highway and struck a tree. A passing driver had spotted the truck and called police.

Longinidis was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Trooper Christopher Brett at (860) 848-6500, extension 5.
