    Motorcycle driver seriously injured in Groton City accident

    Groton ― A motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries in an accident between the motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Poquonnock Road and Rainville Avenue on Thursday, city police said.

    The motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital, police said in a news release.

    Police said the car was being driven by a 52-year-old woman, and the motorcycle was being driven by a 33-year man.

    “No charges have been filed at this time, and the names are not being released,” police said.

    Police said they responded to the accident at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

    The Groton Town, Stonington and City of Groton police departments, which are members of the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Accident Team, responded to investigate, police said.

    The City of Groton Police Department asked anyone who witnessed the accident to call (860) 445-2451 with information.
