    Two displaced by Gales Ferry fire

    Ledyard ― A fire on Tuesday badly damaged an Inchcliffe Drive home and displaced the two residents who live there.

    Gales Ferry Fire Chief Anthony Saccone said the fire was reported at 9:34 p.m. and firefighters arrived to find flames already engulfing the single family home at 42 Inchcliffe Drive.

    The two occupants of the home were safely out of the home when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported. Saccone said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and save the home from complete destruction but it was severely damaged. There was a partial roof collapse as the result of the blaze.

    Ledyard Fire and Subase Engine Co. 62 assisted in the firefight. Mohegan Tribal FAST team, American Ambulance and L&M paramedics also responded.

    The Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to the two residents of the home.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ledyard Fire Marshal’s Office.
