Waterford Police say man charged after using stolen card to buy off-road vehicle

Waterford ― A Norwalk man has been charged with first-degree larceny after police said he used someone else’s credit card to buy an off-road vehicle for almost $30,000.

Local police in a news release said Julio F. Moore, 34, was arrested Thursday when he returned to Motorsports Nation at 110 Cross St. to get the title and remaining paperwork for the 2023 Can-Am off-road vehicle he had picked up just over two weeks prior. Moore made the purchase, which was initially approved by the credit card company, on March 25.

Police said the owner of the credit card, who was in Arizona, notified her bank immediately after noticing the fraudulent activity on her account.

The state Judicial Branch website shows Moore is being held on a $75,000 bond. He is set to appear at New London Superior Court on May 9.
