Branford Police Incident Report for Sept. 10

The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content. Friday, Sept. 10Police correspondent Jason J. Marchi compiles the Police Incident Report.

    • A 66 year-old man of a Main Street apartment was arrested at 10:54 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.

    • An 18 year-old East Haven and a 19 year-old East Haven man were arrested at 5:30 p.m. and charged with breach of peace, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, two counts of assault in the second degree, two counts of conspiracy to commit assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree. In the same incident a 17 year-old North Branford boy was charged with breach of peace, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault in the second degree, and two counts of reckless endangerment in the second. Just after 4:30 p.m. police received a complaint from a group of runners reporting that passengers in a passing motor vehicle had fired some type of plastic pellets at them from a weapon similar to a B-B gun. Sergeant David Galdenzi, who supervised the investigation, said that two runners approached Officer Michael Amarante at the intersection of East Main and North Main Streets and reported they had just been shot at. “They provided Officer Amarante with a very good description of the offending vehicle and its occupants and he was able to locate and stop the vehicle about a mile away,” Galdenzi said. “Amarante located numerous plastic pellet and paintball guns along with ammunition in the vehicle as well.” The 19 year-old was operating the vehicle. A 17 year-old boy of North Branford was identified as the shooter. The 18 year-old was a passenger. All three were held on $5,000 bonds. Galdenzi stated that the 19 year-old is a suspect in a similar incident that occurred earlier in the week and further arrests are pending in that investigation.
