    New London police investigate stabbing on Mountain Avenue

    New London — Police say a man was stabbed in the stomach Wednesday morning on Mountain Avenue.

    According to a release, dispatchers received reports of a stab victim heading to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital about 11:43 a.m. Officers went to the hospital and found a man who had a serious laceration injury to the stomach. Further investigation led police to Mountain Avenue, where a crime scene was found. Members of the Investigative Services Division processed and collected evidence at both the hospital and the Mountain Avenue crime scene.

    Police are actively investigating a disturbance involving the victim and another man, which police say led to the stabbing. The victim was sent into surgery, with police withholding the man's identity pending the outcome of the procedure.
