Preston — A family of three adults and two children were displaced after a fire Friday morning on Route 164 in Preston, the American Red Cross said.
No one was injured, Preston Fire Chief Thomas Casey said.
The fire at 47 Route 164 was confined to the stove, kitchen range and cabinets, and was under control within 10 minutes, he said. The house remains structurally sound, but is temporarily uninhabitable, he said.
The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family's immediate needs, the organization said in a news release. Red Cross caseworkers will follow up with the family in the coming days to work on a longer-term plan.
