Groton — Groton Town police have announced a traffic alert and road closures in the Mystic area between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sunday in conjunction with the 43rd annual Tarzan Brown Mystic River Road Race.

The event is sponsored by the Ocean Community YMCA, Mystic Branch.

Police announced that Pearl Street will be closed between Clift and West Main streets from 11:30 a.m. to the end of the race.

Clift Street, Grove Avenue, Starr Street and Gravel Street will see road closures at 12:45 p.m. for the children’s run, and again just before the start of the adult race, which is at 1:30 p.m. These closures are expected to last only a minimal amount of time, according to the police announcement.

River Road will be closed just before the start time, which is 1:30 p.m., and will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so, police said.
