East Lyme police identify victims in fatal crash Saturday

East Lyme — Police have identified the victim of a fatal head-on collision that occurred at 11 p.m. Saturday on Route 161 as 35-year-old Chad Ebersole of Niantic.

Police said Ebersole was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash and that a passenger in the vehicle, Lily Chalifour, 21, of Niantic, was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, Travis Gauvin, 29, of Norwich, also was flown to Hartford Hospital.

The conditions of the injured parties were not immediately available Monday.

Police said the accident remains under investigation. They did not say how the vehicles collided. Anyone with information is asked to call East Lyme Police Department at (860) 739-5900.
