Montville — State police Troop E will boost patrols Wednesday through Sunday to find and ticket drivers who are intoxicated, distracted, speeding and/or unbuckled, police said.
Police said those four violations “needlessly claim the lives of motorists on Connecticut roadways every year.”
Last year, 268 crashes left 286 people dead statewide, the UConn Connecticut Crash Data Repository shows.
The state Department of Transportation is funding the extra shifts.
New London, Norwich and Stonington police also have announced enhanced holiday patrols.
