    Town police searching for two suspects involved in Groton shooting

    Groton — Town Police are searching for two suspects who are believed to have been involved with a shooting that occurred at Midway Oval in the area of Miami Court on Thursday, Nov. 15.

    According to police, about 12:53 a.m. that day, police responded to a call reporting gunshots being fired. Police found evidence corroborating that report, and have been investigating the incident. Police believe three individuals were involved in that shooting and have obtained arrest warrants for them.

    On Wednesday at 1:45 p.m., one suspect turned herself in to police. Sapphire Kelly, 18, of 189 Midway Oval was charged with conspiring to sell marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to sell. Kelly is being held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Friday in New London Superior Court.

    Police have issued an arrest warrant for Matthew Beck, 21, of 189 Midway Oval, seeking to charge him with criminal use of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, conspiracy to sell marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell. Beck is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

    Another arrest warrant for Kalyn Bomster, 19, of 189 Midway Oval has been issued. She is charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to sell. Bomster is described as a white female, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

    Detectives still were trying to locate both Bomster and Beck and are asking for the public’s assistance in that search. Police say the two should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees either suspect should not try to confront him or her and should call 911 immediately.
