Ledyard — Police continue to investigate a two-car, head-on crash that sent one person to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter Saturday night.

Police said the 11:18 p.m. crash happened on state Route 2 in front of a Foxwoods Resort Casino employee parking lot known as Lot 10, which is at 625 Trolley Line Blvd. Crews took four vehicle occupants to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich by ambulance. Life Star took the fifth person to the Providence hospital.

Chief John Rich said officers haven't finalized the crash report and aren't releasing further information at this time. He said he didn't know the condition of the airlifted person Monday afternoon.

Police closed Route 2 for about three hours so the Regional Accident Construction Team could investigate.
