Norwich — Police are investigating a Tuesday morning burglary at Gary’s Wine & Spirits, a shop that moved from the Starrwood Plaza to 680 Boswell Ave. just more than two weeks ago.

Sgt. John Perry said an alarm company alerted police to the burglary at 5:37 a.m. On scene, police found a broken window but no trace of the burglar. A K-9 track was unsuccessful.

Niral Patel, owner of the shop, said the person entered through the side door, broke a glass window and took a few bottles of liquor. Patel said he also got a call from the alarm company. Police were on scene before he arrived.

Because of his recent move from the plaza at 24 Norwich Ave., Patel said he had not yet installed security cameras. He said the adjacent China Garden Restaurant has some outdoor cameras, but it wasn’t clear if they captured any useful footage.
