Norwich police to tap lieutenant as new deputy chief

Norwich — Lt. Corey Poore, hired as a patrolman in December 1993, will become deputy chief of the Norwich Police Department during a ceremony Wednesday, police Chief Patrick Daley announced Monday.

Poore, a Griswold resident, is a 25-year veteran of the Norwich Police Department and has served as lieutenant since 2015. He was chosen following a selection process administered by the Norwich Human Resources Department in accordance with the Merit System Rules.

Police said Poore was chosen over other applicants after “a lengthy selection process.”

The post has been open since former Deputy Chief Chris Ferace became chief of the Putnam Police Department last September.

The ceremony, happening in room 335 of City Hall at 3 p.m., is open to the public.
