Norwich man arrested on warrant stemming from June 16 shooting

Norwich — A local man was arrested on numerous charges early Wednesday after police responded to a disturbance on Boswell Avenue and found the suspect had outstanding warrants connected to a June 16 shooting.

Jon Christian Johnson, 23, of 495 Laurel Hill Ave., Apt. 3C, was charged at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday with three counts of violation of probation and one count each of being a fugitive from justice, second-degree failure to appear in court, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was held on a combined $260,000 bond.

Police said Johnson was found at 299 Boswell Ave. on Wednesday morning, when they responded to a disturbance at that address.

Police said Johnson was wanted on outstanding warrants in a June 16 shooting that took place during a domestic dispute in the Oakwood Knoll public housing complex. In that incident, police responded to a large fight in which Johnson allegedly fired a single shot and wounded an adult female. The injury was minor.
