    UPDATED: Motorcyclist injured in New London accident

    New London — A motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on Montauk Avenue, city police said.

    The person was severely injured and taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, according to a statement by the New London Firefighters Local 1522 on Twitter.

    Police said emergency personnel responded to the accident in the area of Montauk Avenue and Mitchell and Tinker courts about 12:06 p.m.

    A silver Nissan Altima had damage to the front on the driver's side. A woman and man from New London, who did not wish to be identified, were still on scene with the vehicle.

    Roads were closed in the area as police investigated.
