Shots fired in parking lot after robbery at Home Depot in Waterford

Waterford — Shots were fired at a car in the Home Depot parking lot here after a robbery Friday morning, according to police.

The Waterford Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the store at 816 Hartford Road at 9:33 a.m. Three shots were fired at the hood of a car belonging to two men who allegedly robbed the store. No one was injured, Waterford police said.

The shooting took place after two men who allegedly stole tools from the store walked out to the parking lot and got into an argument with a third man. During the argument, the third man fired three shots at the alleged robbers' car, police said.

The alleged robbers took off in a gray Acura. The man who fired the shots stayed at the scene and was cooperating with police. He was not an employee of the store. He had not been charged as of 12:45 p.m. and the investigation was ongoing, police said.

Police were looking for the alleged robbers, one between the ages of 20 and 30 and the other between 45 and 55 years old, police said. The car's license plate number began with "AG" and the car may have three bullet holes in the hood, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford police at (860) 442-9451.
