Old Lyme — A car was destroyed Friday evening after it caught fire at 78 Old Colony Road, town fire Chief Steve Super said.

No one was injured and the two cottages the car was parked in close proximity to were not damaged, he said. "It had potential, but we were able to knock it out."

Super said the fire was called in sometime after 7 p.m.

The fire was under investigation.
