East Lyme police investigate motor vehicle thefts

East Lyme — Town police said they are investigating the theft of four vehicles and several vehicle break-ins overnight Monday to Tuesday in Niantic. Two of the stolen vehicles were recovered in New Britain.

Several vehicles were broken into and had items stolen from them, according to the news release.

Credit cards from at least one vehicle were used overnight in New Britain, police said.

Police also said a vehicle stolen from Wallingford was recovered in town.

“These criminal incidents are part of larger scale crimes of this nature which continue to occur throughout the New England area, and we are actively investigating them with law enforcement partners to include evidence seized from today’s incidents,” the police said in the news release.

Anyone with information or video evidence is asked to call police at (860) 739-5900.

Police also encourage people to always ensure their “vehicles are locked at night, with keys and valuable items removed.”
