Police continue to investigate New London shooting

New London — Police still are investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead and two men wounded Sunday evening in New London and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The shooting took place at 20 Home St. about 11:33 p.m. Sunday, according to the New London Police Department.

Three men were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. One of the men, age 23, died at the hospital, police said.

Police did not believe the man who died was from new London but had not yet released his identify pending notification of his next of kin, according to New London police Capt. Brian Wright.

The other two men, both in their 20s, were treated at the hospital. It wasn’t clear if they had been released, but neither had been charged in connection to the shooting.

Police were on the scene Sunday evening and all day Monday, gathering evidence and investigating the scene with crime scene tape blocked off Home Street from Franklin Street to Hempstead Street.

Investigators were inspecting a brown Audi sedan parked at the corner of Home Street and Franklin Street that was dented and scratched on the passenger side. Lying beside the car was a pair of Nike sneakers, a pair of socks and a torn-up, bloody shirt.

New London police and the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit were continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call (860) 447-1481 or text NLPDTip to Tip411.
