    Pedestrian killed in New London accident

    New London — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday in an accident near Williams Park, off Broad Street.

    The identity of the man, who was struck at the intersection of Broad and Channing streets, has not been made public.

    New London Fire Battalion Chief Jonathan Paige said firefighters were called to the scene at 5:50 p.m. where they found the unresponsive victim. Paige said CPR was performed but the man, who was in his late 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The two people in the vehicle were not injured. Members of the New London Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the accident.
