Stonington — A woman was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries after driving through the garage of a home on Masons Island Road on Tuesday, Quiambaug fire Chief James McPherson said.

The car went through the garage and could be seen Tuesday evening sticking out the other end, where it struck a tree.

McPherson said the call came in at 4:44 p.m. and the woman was the only person in the car. He said he didn’t know the cause of the crash, which is under investigation.

The Mystic Fire Department also responded. Just before 5:45 p.m., McPherson said first responders were waiting for the building official to arrive.

No further information was immediately available.
