Police seeking information on East Lyme car theft

East Lyme — Police are asking the public for information on a vehicle stolen from a driveway on Brookfield Drive sometime early Monday morning.

Town police Chief Michael Finkelstein said the investigation was launched after the owner awoke to find the vehicle missing Monday morning. The gray 2018 Toyota Camry had been unlocked, with the keys left inside.

Officers canvassing the area located doorbell camera video from a home on Irvingdell Place, which showed an individual attempting to enter a vehicle at the home at 2:18 a.m., police said in a news release.

Finkelstein said police believe the car was stolen in the same general timeframe caught on the Irvingdell Place video.

Police ask anyone with information or additional video footage to contact the police department at (860) 739-5900.

Police also remind residents to make sure their vehicles are locked, keys are secured and valuables are removed from vehicles when parked at home.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
