    Montauk Avenue fire displaces four

New London — A fire displaced four residents from a single-family house on Montauk Avenue on Friday afternoon.

New London Fire Chief Thomas Curcio said the call came in about 3:45 p.m. for a blaze that appeared to start near the porch before working its way into the walls.

Four residents were home at the time but there were no injuries, according to Curcio. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.

He said the fire, which was contained to the exterior wall and the first floor interior wall, was knocked down within 15 minutes.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Submarine Base Fire Department FAST Team and Groton Ambulance also responded.
