New London -- Police say a man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound after they found him in a backyard at 207 Vauxhall St. early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a call at 1:15 a.m. about a suspicious male in the backyard of a home. Responding officers found the man and he was taken to Lawerence + Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random act and they are investigating.
