    Norwich police identify homicide victim

    Norwich — Police on Tuesday identified the 46-year-old man who died in a Sunday night shooting as Darnell Thomas, who originally was from New York and frequented the Norwich area.

    Police said they responded to a report of a shooting at 9:34 p.m. at the Mohegan Commons, 90 North St., and found Thomas, who was then taken to Backus Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Police said the shooting appears to be targeted attack against Thomas.

    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Tuesday said the cause of Thomas' death was a gunshot wound to the torso and ruled his death a homicide.
