Norwich — Two people were injured, with what police believe to be a hatchet-style weapon, during an altercation Tuesday at a Cliff Street residence, police said.

Police said they responded about 4:21 p.m. to a reported assault at 36 Cliff St. and found two injured victims.

"This incident is believed to be a targeted attack against the two victims," who both lived at the residence, police said.

Both victims suffered lacerations that were not life-threatening, police said.

The department asks people with more information to call (860) 886-5561, the Norwich Police Tip Line or Investigating Detective Steve Callender at (860) 886-5561, ext. 3154.

    This is a developing story.
