    Man suffers serious, but non-life threatening injury in New London stabbing

    New London — City police said a man was stabbed Saturday night in a Cutler Street residence and taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening injury.

    Police said in a news release Monday that the incident, which was reported to emergency dispatch at 9:18 p.m. Saturday, "does not appear to be a random act."

    Witnesses told police that a suspect took off in a vehicle before police arrived, according to the release. Police then found the suspect and took him into custody.

    Jose Matoselicier, 56, of 47 Cutler St., No. 2, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct, according to police.

    Police said in the news release that they encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact the Detective Bureau at (860) 447-1481 or submit anonymous information via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).
