    Bulls 104, Knicks 102

Kris Dunn is a key piece of the Chicago Bulls' rebuilding effort. He wants to be a key to the team's success.

Dunn, the former New London high School star, made two free throws with 2.9 seconds left to give the Bulls a victory over New York on Saturday night.

Coach Fred Hoiberg put the ball in Dunn's hands during the final possession and the second-year point guard was fouled by Courtney Lee while driving to the basket.

"I want to be a leader for my team and I want to make the big plays," Dunn said. "I know we have multiple guys who can make plays, but I definitely want to be one of them."

Following a timeout, the Knicks — who scored 10 straight points to tie it at 102 — had a chance to tie or take the lead, but Kristaps Porzingis missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Nikola Mirotic, in just his second game of the season, had 19 points to help Chicago win its second straight. Dunn finished with 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and Luari Markkanen and David Nwaba had 15 points apiece. Nwaba had 11 points in the fourth quarter.

"I'm proud of the guys for finding a way to hang on there," Hoiberg said.

Porzingis had 23 points for New York. The Knicks are 1-8 on the road.

"I feel like I let my teammates down, and I'm not talking about the last shot but in general the whole game," Porzingis said. "We have to play at a better level and I have to play at a better level from the beginning."

After snapping a 10-game losing streak Friday night in Charlotte, the Bulls didn't arrive back in Chicago until about five hours before game time because of weather-related delays.

But they jumped out to a 19-6 lead and rallied after New York took a 70-68 lead into the fourth quarter.

"The game was lost way in the beginning," Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said. "They're a team that had travel issues. We come out not ready to play, let them get out to a big lead. They showed some fight at the end. We've got to come out at the beginning of the game. That's a mental preparation thing that we talked about."

    Heat 101, Nets 89

Goran Dragic and Tyler Johnson each scored 20 points and Miami beat Brooklyn in the Heat's first game in Mexico in franchise history.

Playing in front of 19,777 fans at raucous Arena Ciudad de Mexico, Dragic was 9 of 19 from the field and had seven rebounds for Miami. The Heat snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 12-13.

James Johnson added 17 points, Justice Winslow had 15 and Kelly Olynyk 11 for Miami. The Heat rallied from two seven-point deficits.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson led the Nets with 18 points. Coming off a 100-95 victory over Oklahoma City on Thursday night in the Mexico City opener, the Nets dropped to 10-15.

In the third quarter, the Nets took a seven-point lead on Tyler Zeller's layup, but Dragic sealed a 10-2 run to give Miami a 60-59 lead and the Heat took a 75-72 advantage into the final period.

Miami put it away with an 11-4 run to start the fourth quarter. They took an 86-76 lead with 8:18 to play on Wayne Hellington's dunk.

    Late Friday

    Spurs 105, Celtics 102

Manu Ginobili hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining and San Antonio overcame Kyrie Irving's 36-point effort snap Boston's four-game winning streak.

Ginobili set up the winning basket by sneaking into the paint for an offensive rebound with 25 seconds left. LaMarcus Aldridge had 27 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio.

Irving, who scored a career-high 57 points against San Antonio in 2015 while with Cleveland, created havoc again at the AT&T Center. Irving finished 13 for 21, including 6 for 10 on 3-pointers, but missed his final two 3s. His final 3-pointer rattled in and out as the buzzer sounded.

The Spurs, already without Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Anderson, lost Danny Green in the first half. Green left with tightness in his left groin. There was no update on the severity of the injury.
