Local Election Debates

The Day is once again preparing to conduct debates in our local communities in advance of the November 5 election for municipal offices. Our expectation is to provide debates in all our local contested races for chief executive positions, meaning mayors and first selectmen. Races for those positions are being held in New London, Montville, East Lyme, Waterford, Stonington, Old Lyme, Lyme and Preston. We will provide the details when we have them.

In the meantime, we would like to hear from you what questions should be asked. If you live in one of these towns, you can send along questions specific to your particular community. Or send us questions you have about local government generally. But please keep the focus on local; these debates won’t feature anyone running for state or national office. Those elections take place in 2020.
