Local roundup: Schooners season comes to an end

Oaks Bluff, Mass. ― The Mystic Schooners were eliminated from the New England Collegiate Baseball League playoffs on Monday night, losing 6-5 to the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks in 11 innings in a single-elimination game.

Joe Jaconski (North Carolina) singled home Michael Bello (Auburn) in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 5-5. Mason LaPlante (Georgia) and Jaconski had two hits each and Jaconski drove in two runs for the Schooners.

• Mike Evans pitched a seven-hitter to lead the Clippers to a 4-0 win over the Padres in an Eastern Connecticut Major League game on Monday night. Evans struck out four with no walks and also had a double. Rob DelaCruz had a triple and a single and Hendrick Khoury singled twice for the Padres.
