UConn added another promising player to its top five nationally-ranked recruiting class on Wednesday night.

Youssouf Singare, a four-star center out of Our Saviour Lutheran High School in New York, announced his commitment to the Huskies on social media.

He chose UConn over fellow Big East schools Seton Hall and Providence.

He visited UConn for the second time during the weekend of September 10-11, joining Stephon Castle, Jayden Ross and Solomon Ball, who’ve already committed to UConn, and Jaylin Stewart, who announced last week that he plans to continue his basketball career in Storrs, on campus.

All five players posed together for photos, recreating pictures taken during Michigan’s Fab Five days.

“I had a great conversation with the coaching staff. For me, it’s a great place,” Singare told 247Sports, a recruiting website that live streamed the announcement.

The athletic 7-foot, 190-pound Singare is a native of Mali, which is also where current UConn big man Adama Sanogo is from. He has the potential to make an immediate impact on the defensive end but still needs develop his offensive game.

According to Adam Finkelstein, Director of scouting for 247Sports, UConn is just the second college basketball program to receive five commitments from nationally ranked recruits in the Class of 2023.
