    H.S. roundup: Playoff-bound RHAM beats Bacon Academy 41-12

    Hebron — Max Nylen rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns as RHAM won “The Battle for the Rail” with a 41-12 Thanksgiving Day victory over Bacon Academy.

    The Raptors (7-3) will play in the CIAC football playoffs for the first time in program history on Tuesday. They are the sixth-seed in Class M and will visit No. 3 Law of Milford in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m.

    Michael Marques added 138 rushing yards for RHAM, including a 32-yard TD run.

    Bacon, which finishes 1-9, scored on a pair of touchdown passes by Jack Holmes. He connected with Julian Rodegher for a 31-yard score in the first half and an 19-yard strike to Jace King in the fourth quarter.

    Aiden Fritz had a big game for the Bobcats, rushing for 127 yards on 15 carries.

    • In other Thanksgiving morning games, John Sullivan returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and Westerly (8-3) never looked back, cruising to a 55-0 victory over host Stonington (2-8), and Griswold/Wheeler put the finishing touches on a winning season (6-4) with an easy 34-0 victory over rival Plainfield.

    • Nine local players have been named to the 2022 Connecticut Girls’ Soccer Coaches Association all-state team: East Lyme senior Abigail Belleville (Class L); Bacon Academy sophomore Audrey Palmer, Stonington senior Carly Constantine and Stonington sophomore Maya Terwilliger (Class M); Lyman Memorial senior Magda Carpenter, Old Lyme senior Alexis Fenton, Old Lyme senior Lyla Powers, St. Bernard senior Emily Hernandez and St. Bernard junior Angelica Tompkins (Class S).
