    H.S. roundup: Bacon’s Nudd joins 1,000-point club during ECC D-II victory over Ledyard

    Colchester — Marissa Nudd became the eighth player in Bacon Academy girls’ basketball history to score her 1,000th career point Tuesday night during her team’s 52-45 victory over Ledyard.

    Nudd reached the milestone on a layup with 37.9 seconds left in first quarter, finishing with 11 points in the game. Her sister, Kellie, was the last girls’ player to score 1,000 in 2019. She finished with 1,235 points.

    Katelyn Novak led Bacon with 19 points and Elizabeth Glover had 15 rebounds. Bacon is 3-0 and 2-0 in Division II of the Eastern Connecticut Conference.

    Kieara Kirvin led Ledyard (0-3, 0-2) with 19.

    In other games:

    • Nalyce Dudley’s career-high 35 points led New London to an 83-20 win over Stonington. Dudley also had 15 rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Serenity Lancaster had 26 points and 20 rebounds for the Whalers (3-0). Stonington is 1-2.

    • Mariette El Khoury had 12 points as Fitch defeated Norwich Free Academy 38-36 in an ECC Division I game. The Falcons are 2-1, 1-0. Nevaeh Yorke had 12 to lead NFA (0-2, 0-1).

    • Hailey Flores and Aniya Jenkins combined for 36 points and eight 3-pointers as Windham defeated Montvilel 66-33 in an ECC Division III game. Jada Cheung scored 15 points to lead Montville (1-2, 0-2) and Ava Collins added 12.

    • Kaylee Gray scored 18 points as Norwich Tech defeated Goodwin Tech 31-28 in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Abigail Ulrich added 11 for Norwich Tech (1-1).

    • Griswold lost to Plainfield 47-35 in an ECC Division III game on Monday night. Natalie Becotte had 16 points and Abby Matheson scored 11 for Griswold (1-3, 0-2).

    Boys’ basketball

    • Mikey Wagner had 15 points, three blocks and three steals as Fitch defeated Waterford 63-40 in Divisioin II of the ECC. Jacob Francis had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Lorenzo Rivera had 11 points for Fitch (3-0,2-0). Nate Hynes had 11 for Waterford (1-2, 1-1).

    • Yianni Baribeau had 11 points and 16 rebounds to lead Killingly past Bacon Academy 64-27 in an ECCDivision III game. Logan Gagnon led all scorers with 12 points for Killingly (2-1). Elijah Black had 14 points for Bacon (0-3, 0-3).

    • Kyle Kessler had 12 points and Zane Brewer had 11 as Wheeler defeated Bolton 52-44 in a non-conference game. Jayson Krysiewicz and Deondre Bransford had 10 points apiece for Wheeler (1-1).

    • Caleb Brennan had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks during Grasso Tech’s 86-57 loss to Prince Tech in the CTC. Charis Johnson added 15 points, eight rebounds and six steals for the Eagles, who were playing their first game of the season.

    Riflery

    • Grasso Tech defeated the Parish Hill 852-717 in the Parish Hill program’s first varsity match. Colt Burgess led the Eagles with a score of 176 out of 200.

    H.S. football

    • Ledyard senior James Green and junior Matthew Tebbets were named to the Walter Camp Foundation all-state second team. Green made the team as a defensive back while Tebbets was selected on the offensive line. The ECC was also represented by four players for Class MM finalist Killingly. Wide receiver Ben Jax, defensive lineman Terrence Allen and punter Thomas Dreibholz made the first team while running back Soren Rief was named to the second team. The teams will be recognized on Saturday, March 11 during a “Breakfast of Champions” at the Omni Hotel in New Haven.

    • Six players from Thames River were selected to the Connecticut Technical Conference all-star team. Seth Cunningham (running back-linebacker), David Clang (lineman) and Kaleb DelMastro (linebacker) of Norwich Tech, Rocco Cinelli (linebacker) of Grasso Tech and St. Bernard’s Ryan Outlow (running back) and Cedrick Similien (defensive back) made the team.
