    H.S. lacrosse roundup: Waterford girls’ edge Bacon Academy

    Waterford — Quinn Brigham and Payton Smith both scored three times as Waterford edged Bacon Academy on Saturday, 12-11, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II girls’ lacrosse game on opening day of the high school spring season.

    Madison LaForte and Victoria Sturm each had two goals, Sadie Tiven had a goal and an assist and Clara Mahoney had five saves for Waterford.

    Marissa Nudd scored five times and Katie Hall had 13 saves for the Bobcats.

    In other games:

    • Sophia Gouveia scored seven times to pace Wheeler to its 16-9 win over Killingly. Katie Pierce had three goals and an assist, Grace Cassata and Katheryn DelGrosso scored twice and Anna Barber had 23 saves for Wheeler.

    • Lauren Friedrich had five goals and three assists and Molly Page added six goals and two assists as NFA downed Woodstock Academy, 18-3, in an ECC Division I game. Alice Rourke had five goals and two assists, Hayleigh Young had a goal and two assists for NFA. Also, Sophia Smith had three saves. Caroline Harris scored twice for the Centaurs.

    • Chloe Jennings had four goals and Abi D'Amico, Violet Kunka and Olivia Mayorga all scored three times in St. Bernard’s 15-2 win over Griswold/Norwich Tech in an ECC Division III game. Chloe Jennings and Gwyneth Howes each had four assists, Gwyneth Howes scored twice and Catherine Hannaford had seven saves for the Saints. Emily Aviles and Sienna Caron scored for the Wolverines.

    Boys

    • Drew Sager had four goals and five assists as East Lyme downed Woodstock Academy, 20-1, in an ECC Division I game. Sawyer Tighe had two goals and four assists, Reagan Pierce had two goals and three assists and Jack Keating had four goals and an assist for the Vikings. Also, Aiden Patterson had three goals and an assist and Jack Campbell scored three times. Jared Nielson scored for the Centaurs.

    • Trevor Stringer had two goals and three assists in Waterford’s 12-6 win over NFA in an ECC Division I game. Johan Deon and C.J. Landry both scored three times, Terrance Silva had two goals, Jackson Huta and Griffin Neal each had a goal and an assist and Dylan McCarthy had 11 saves for the Lancers. Logan Jenkins had a goal and two assists, Conor Dempsey scored twice and Patrick Lawson had 10 saves for the Wildcats.

    • Cam Elenteny had four goals and two assists and Ben Massengale added four goals and an assist as Stonington beat Old Lyme, 15-4. Ethan Mahoney had three goals and an assist for the Bears and and Tyler Simao each had two goals and two assists. Mason Bussman had three goals, Spencer Spezio scored and Jackson Bullock had the assist for the Wildcats.

    • Roman Rich had eight goals and Evan Hicks had 16 saves for Fitch in its 19-7 win over Norwalk. Tate Jordan had three goals and two assists, Boden Frost scored three times and Fabian Aponte-Flores played strong on faceoffs for Fitch.
