    H.S. softball: LaTour, Lyman roll past Montville 7-0 in opener

    Lebanon — Kassidy LaTour pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Lyman Memorial opened its season season with a 7-0 victory over Montville on Tuesday.

    LaTour also went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double, with three runs scored for the Bulldogs, while Lenia-Maria Byers went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, Rylee Benway went 4-for-4, including a triple, with four RBI and Hannah Gendron singled and scored.

    Ava Gero singled for Montville, which was also opening its season.

    In other games:

    • Cami Brown went 4-for-4, including three doubles, with five RBI as Stonington outslugged St. Bernard 17-12. Madi Allard had four hits, including two triples, with four runs, Gracelyn Smith went 3-for-4, including a double, with two RBI and Bri Plew went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Bears (2-0). Aubree Nygaard had two hits and five RBI for the Saints (0-2) and Madison Scribner went 4-for-5 with two RBI.

    • Madison Labrecque pitched a one-hitter and Kierra Neilson went 3-for-4 and scored three runs as Griswold downed Wheeler 13-0 in five innings. Abigail Matheson tripled and scored two times, Makayla Neilson had two hits and two runs and Ella Cash and Adrianna Morabito both singled and scored twice for the Wolverines (1-0). Leah Clearly singled for the Lions (0-1).

    • Winning pitcher Haley Smith went 4-for-4 and hit a home run as Norwich Free Academy beat Ledyard 8-4. NFA is 2-0. Layla Lasisomphone had two RBI and Grace Bush went 2-for-3 for the Colonels (0-1).

    • Charlotte Cabral pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine over five innings as Fitch rolled to a 12-0 victory over Killingly. Cabral also had three hits and drove in two runs for the Falcons (1-0) while Maerin Lyon added two hits.

    • Caity Flynn pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and singled as Norwich Tech beat Goodwin Tech 14-2 in a five-inning mercy rule game in the Connecticut Technical Conference.

    • Aubrey Martin had a single, two RBI and a run as NFA beat Glastonbury 5-2 on Monday. Jillian Dykema tripled and scored, Leah Manke had a double and an RBI and Smith pitched a complete game with four strikeouts for the Wildcats.
